Bethel for All’s village accessibility plan is nearly ready for launch. Watch for the final plan and next steps in May!

Big ideas are brewing in Bethel. Want to explore them?

The community has shared hundreds of ideas and comments. We’ve completed studies and audits. Bethel groups, leaders and businesses are using this information already to shape projects and grant proposals.
And we’re nearly ready to release the final plan and get to work.

Draft Plan

See the draft Bethel for All village accessibility plan. Watch for the final plan this spring.

Chapter 1: What We Learned

Chapter 1 is a complete report on what we learned by studying village road and traffic conditions, sidewalk network, land use and building inventory, parks and public spaces and more. These findings directly inform plan recommendations.

Chapter 2: Big Ideas

Explore Chapter 2 to see the “big ideas” emerging from our research and community engagement. These are top action ideas, early designs, and quick steps to improve streets, accessibility, parks and recreation, the village economy, and local capacity.

Chapter 3: Implementation

Chapter 3 is about making it happen. See the final plan priorities and next steps, cost estimates, funding sources, and potential leaders and stakeholders. See something you want to work on? More hands are needed! Get in touch.

Walk Audit

AARP Vermont worked with the Bethel for All Steering Committee to complete a “walk audit” of Bethel village. Volunteers took to the streets with clipboards, radar devices, and cameras to document street and sidewalk conditions, bike safety, traffic speeds, and the experience of walking. See what they found, and what actions are recommended to make Bethel more bike able and walkable.

Accessibility Audit & Toolkit

Direct Access (an accessibility consulting firm) completed an accessibility audit of Bethel village. They looked at how our streets, buildings, businesses, public spaces and services can be more accessible to people with a range of disabilities — and everyone. Here’s the full report.

Market Study

Arnett Muldrow completed a market study of Bethel, looking at how our local economy is doing and where we have room to grow. The report shows Bethel’s service area, economic categories with growth potential, and recommendations for growing our local village economy.
